Leveraging AI in Youth Governance: Hon. Opeyemi Apatira Calls for Smarter Service Delivery and New AI Laws
Speaking at the 'Leveraging AI in Youth Governance' event, the Leader of the Legislative Arm made the case for AI-powered service delivery in government — and for urgent legislation to check the dangers of artificial intelligence.

Opeyemi Apatira, Leader of the Legislative Arm of Ojodu LCDA, was a speaker at the 'Leveraging AI in Youth Governance' event, where he addressed the application of artificial intelligence to enhance service delivery in governance.
He argued that AI can make government faster, fairer and more transparent — from automated document processing and e-petitions to data-driven oversight of public projects — and challenged young people to lead that digital transformation of the public sector.
He equally stressed the urgent need to legislate against the rising challenges and dangers of AI: disinformation and deepfakes, privacy violations, algorithmic bias and the widening digital divide.
'Technology without rules is a risk; rules without technology are a missed opportunity.
The legislature must move with the same speed as innovation,' he told the gathering.
The Leader reiterated the Legislative Arm's commitment to a digital governance agenda that pairs innovation with accountability.
